Tankri
Tankri script is a historical script traditionally used in the western Himalayan regions, especially in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and nearby hill areas. It evolved from the Sharada script between the 16th and 17th centuries and was widely used by local rulers for administrative records, revenue documents, trade accounts, and personal communication. Different regional forms of Tankri developed in various hill states, including Chamba and Kangra. During the 19th century, its use declined as Devanagari and Perso-Arabic scripts became more common. Today, Tankri is studied for its historical importance and represents an important part of Himalayan cultural heritage.
